On March 6 at 1:14 pm, the Ponca City Fire Department responded to a reported structure fire in the 2300 block of Oriole.
The first unit arrived on scene within four minutes and encountered heavy fire and smoke coming from the side of the residence.
Fire attack and rescue crews entered the home and located a victim, who was removed through a rear door.
Firefighters immediately began resuscitation efforts; however, the victim was later pronounced deceased at the scene.
During a secondary search, firefighters located a second victim in a room believed to be near the area of origin of the fire.
The fire was brought under control quickly.
The cause of the fire is currently under investigation by the State Fire Marshal’s Office, the Ponca City Fire Marshal, and the Ponca City Police Department. More information will be released as it becomes available.
