President Donald Trump announced Wednesday that he is taking steps to stop large investors from buying single-family homes.

He wrote on TRUTH Social that owning a home used to be the pinnacle of the American Dream and due to inflation and the previous administration, it is getting harder for Americans to buy a home.

“It is for that reason, and much more, that I am immediately taking steps to ban large institutional investors from buying more single-family homes, and I will be calling on Congress to codify it,” Trump announced.

He said that people should live in homes and not corporations.

“I will discuss this topic, including further Housing and Affordability proposals, and more, at my speech in Davos in two weeks,” his post concluded.

According to Yahoo Finance, nine out of 10 Americans have said that corporate landlords have made purchasing a home more difficult.

Last month, it was reported that housing affordability could improve in 2026. Housing market analysts predicted that mortgages rates will continue to moderate.
