Shortly before 4:30 this morning, PCPD Officers responded to the area of Lake Ponca when a caller stated a civilian vehicle, believed to be a silver Dodge Challenger, was at the lake with a fake siren and emergency lights. The caller believed the occupants were attempting to impersonate a law enforcement vehicle by utilizing emergency lights and a siren.
The driver of the vehicle sped off from the lake after they were photographed by a citizen. Officers quickly located the vehicle at the intersection of Pecan and Canterbury and, when the officers attempted to conduct a traffic stop, the driver of the vehicle refused to stop and a short pursuit ensued.
Approximately 16 seconds into the pursuit, the driver lost control of his vehicle and crashed into a home in the 1600 Block of Cookson. The homeowner was home at the time but was not injured when the vehicle crashed.
Officers arrested 19-year-old Noah W. Thomas at the scene for Driving Under the Influence, Minor in Possession of Alcohol, Transporting an Open Container and Causing an Accident Involving Injury or Damage while Eluding Police (Felony). Two occupants in the suspect’s vehicle were taken to the hospital with minor injuries.
These are charges, not convictions.
