
At approximately 2:16 a.m. this morning, the Ponca City Fire Department responded to reports of a fire at an abandoned apartment complex in the 300 block of East Hazel.
First arriving crews were on scene within three minutes and found heavy fire conditions with the second floor fully involved.
Firefighters initially operated in a defensive mode to contain the fire and protect surrounding properties. As conditions improved, crews were able to transition to an offensive interior attack to continue extinguishment operations.
A total of 25 firefighters responded to the incident. Crews worked for approximately three hours before the fire was brought under control.
The Fire Marshal’s Office was requested to the scene to conduct an investigation. At the time of this release, the cause of the fire remains under investigation.
No injuries to civilians were reported.
