Oklahoma voters went to the polls Tuesday for the primary runoff election to determine which candidates will be on the November ballot.
Mike Mazzei defeated Gentner Drummond in the Aug. 25 runoff, and will face Democrat Cyndi Munson on Nov. 3 in the general election for Oklahoma’s Governor seat.
Robert Franklin will face Jennettie Marshall in Oklahoma’s November election for State Superintendent of Public Education. The Associated Press projects Franklin defeated fellow Republican James Taylor in Tuesday’s runoff election.
Oklahoma State Question 844 failed, the Associated Press projected Tuesday night.
This means local agencies, cities, and schools will continue to be reimbursed fully when projects receive property tax exemptions.
From Oklahoma Watch: State Question 844 would have amend the Oklahoma Constitution so the Legislature would no longer be required to reimburse local towns, counties, and school districts for property tax revenue they lose out on when new and expanding manufacturing facilities take advantage of the state’s five-year property tax exemption.
State Question 846 passed, the Associated Press projected Tuesday Night.
SQ 846 will place Oklahoma’s existing voter identification requirement into the state constitution instead of leaving it solely in state law. It also leaves the door open for possible updates to acceptable forms of ID.
