LOS ANGELES (TNND) — Rob Reiner and his son Nick Reiner got into a ‘very loud argument’ at Conan O’Brien’s Christmas party on Saturday night, hours before the director and his wife were found dead in their home, sources told multiple outlets.
The fight, first reported by TMZ, was apparently loud enough for many others to hear and resulted in Rob and his wife, Michele, leaving the party.
One source told People that “Nick was freaking everyone out, acting crazy, kept asking people if they were famous.”
The couple was found dead in their Los Angeles home, located in the Brentwood neighborhood, on Sunday.
The Los Angeles Fire Department responded around 3:30 p.m. local time to provide medical aid, and the LAPD arrived around 10 minutes after to begin an investigation.
Nick was arrested on Sunday and is being held on no bail, according to online records for the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Office. Police Chief Jim McDonnell said during a Monday news conference that the son was arrested and “booked for murder.”
In the semi-autobiographical 2016 film “Being Charlie,” Rob and Nick explored their difficult relationship and Nick’s struggles with drugs.
Rob Reiner, the son of comedian and director Carl Reiner, made a name for himself with his breakout role as “Meathead” on “All in the Family,” earning two Emmy Awards.
He directed the coming-of-age classic “Stand By Me,” the romantic comedy “When Harry Met Sally,” the fantasy favorite “The Princess Bride,” the psychological horror “Misery,” and the courtroom drama “A Few Good Men,” to name just a few from his prolific career.
Rob and Michele met while filming “When Harry Met Sally” and later married in 1989. The couple shared three children, Jake, Nick, and Romy.
