After a few Oklahoma County criminal judges recused themselves from the Richard Glossip case, new dates have been set for the case in 2026.

“It’s important for Mr. Glossip of course, because he’s been sitting in prison, almost executed nine times for a crime that he’s never even had a fair trial for,” said Don Knight, Glossip’s attorney.

The crime in question was arranging the murder of Barry Van Treese in 1997. Earlier this year, the Supreme Court threw out Glossip’s 2004 conviction and death sentence and now has new dates coming up in 2026: a hearing for a motion to quash a potential subpoena for Attorney General Gentner Drummond to testify January 23rd, and a bond hearing for Glossip February 12th.

“We’re anxious to get the case moving forward, but there are a lot of things that happen in between now and the trial date,” said Knight.

Glossip’s team also filed a motion for a hearing to enforce a release dismissal agreement for February 13th. Knight said this stems from a binding agreement that was allegedly made with the Attorney General that prevents a new trial.

“That’s the agreement that we reached with the attorney general back in April 1st of 2023, and that’s a pretty definitive agreement. He responded ‘We’re in agreement’ so we’re going to have a hearing on it,” Knight said.

Knight said he doesn’t think there will be a trial, adding he believes these motions will be granted and that Glossip will be free in February.
