OKLAHOMA CITY –
A proposed bill would require law enforcement officers in Oklahoma to obtain a court order in order to mask their identity using a head or face covering while executing a warrant.
SB 1234, filed by Oklahoma Sen. Michael Brooks (D — Oklahoma City), would require officers to “obtain a separate court order for each warrant execution in which the peace officer desires to mask his or her identity.”
According to the bill text, a head or face covering would not include protective equipment, like face shields or helmets.
Online records show the bill was first filed on Dec. 11, 2025.
State lawmakers had until 4 p.m. on Thursday to file bills and joint resolutions for the measures to be considered during the upcoming legislative session. Sen. Brooks’ bill, plus others, can be heard when the 60th Oklahoma Legislature convenes on Feb. 2.
