KANSAS CITY, Mo. — The Kansas City Chiefs took to social media on Sunday morning to announce the halftime show performer for the Thanksgiving Day matchup against the Dallas Cowboys.

On Thursday, Nov. 27, Texas-native and multi-genre music star Post Malone will take to the stage at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas, for the highly anticipated game between the two mega-franchise teams.

The Thanksgiving Day game serves as one of the largest and most-watched games of the NFL season, alongside the Super Bowl.

It has featured performances at various stadiums and by stars across the U.S., like Dolly Parton, Luke Combs, Shaboozy, Lainey Wilson, Jason Derulo, John Fogerty, Jack Harlow, Pitbull and more.

The matchup will stand as a momentous occasion for many involved, as Kansas City has numerous ties to the singer, as well as Texas — particularly Dallas.

The last time Malone performed on an NFL field was for Super Bowl LVIII, on Feb. 11, 2024, in which he sang “America the Beautiful.”

Following that performance, and a Chiefs win against the San Francisco 49ers, Malone was seen at the afterparty, performing for star players and his fans. During the performance, though, a viral moment was captured, showing Patrick Mahomes’ wife, Brittany, convincing Malone to wear a Chiefs jacket for one song.

The moment sparked some mixed reactions among each fan base; however, the virality later passed. But it is undeniable to say that the Chiefs have left a permanent mark on Malone… literally.

Following the Chiefs’ Super Bowl LIV win, tight end Travis Kelce and his brother Jason Kelce took to their podcast, “New Heights,” to discuss some memorable Super Bowl moments, including one in 2020 involving the famous hip-hop and country singer.

Travis recalled a friendly game of beer pong in 2020, which turned not-so-friendly, and led to Malone getting a tattoo of Mahomes and Travis’ signatures on his arm.

So, it’s safe to say that Kansas City, specifically the Chiefs, has left its mark on Malone — despite his loyalty to the Cowboys.

But that isn’t the only connection Dallas has with the Chiefs.

The game will also serve as a homecoming for Texas-born Mahomes, as well as a Chiefs and Hunt family reunion in the city where the team originated nearly 65 years ago.

The Chiefs play the Cowboys on Thanksgiving Day at 3:30 p.m.
