OKLAHOMA CITY –
An Oklahoma City man is accused of throwing a Molotov cocktail at a man in a wheelchair before allegedly pushing the victim into the flames outside of the OKC police department.
Police said the attack happened early Thursday morning near S. Lee Ave. at W. Main St. outside of police headquarters.
Officials said 38-year-old Alexander Emery threw a Molotov cocktail at the victim, which exploded on impact.
The victim quickly wheeled himself out of the fire, but according to police, Alexander allegedly tried to shove the man back into the fire.
Detectives nearby quickly responded and took Alexander into custody.
The Oklahoma City Fire Department and EMSA responded to the scene and treated the victim for minor injuries.
Following the attack, Alexander was booked into the Oklahoma County Detention Center on complaints of first-degree arson, assault and battery with a deadly weapon, assault with intent to kill and two counts of possessing, using, manufacturing or threatening to use an incendiary device or explosives.
Court records show his bond is set at $50,000.
