OKLAHOM CITY – Rep. Ken Luttrell, R-Ponca City, commented on Rural Economic Action Plan funding approved for a transportation project in Shidler.

“This is a meaningful investment for Shidler and for the people who depend on these roads every day,” Luttrell said. “Projects like this may not always grab headlines, but they make a real difference in the daily lives of folks in rural communities. REAP funding helps towns keep up with essential infrastructure and plan for the future.”

The City of Shidler was awarded $86,627.90 through the Rural Economic Action Plan program to complete a chip-and-seal project on local roadways, including improvements from Highway 11 to 8th Street and from 8th Street to 1st Street. The funding was approved by the Indian Nations Council of Governments as part of the Fiscal Year 2026 REAP allocations.

The Legislature appropriated $33 million statewide for the REAP program this past session to support infrastructure, transportation and community and economic development projects in rural Oklahoma.

Projects were ranked and approved based on established criteria, including community need, fiscal capacity and local participation.

Rep. Ken Luttrell serves District 37 in the Oklahoma House of Representatives. His district includes parts of Kay and Osage county.
