Hunter Biden blames Democratic party for 2024 loss, saying party ‘melted down’

Hunter Biden, former President Joe Biden’s son, accused the Democratic party of abandoning his father and said that this was the reason Democrats lost the 2024 election.

“We lost the last election because we did not remain loyal to the leader of the party,” Biden said on Jaime Harrison, former Democratic National Committee Chairman Jaime Harrison’s new podcast “At Our Table. “That’s my position. We had the advantage of incumbency, we had the advantage of an incredibly successful administration, and the Democratic Party literally melted down.”

Biden dropped out of the presidential race last July amid pressure from Democratic Congressional members and high profile supporters, who expressed concern over Biden’s cognitive capabilities. The former president gave a disastrous performance in his debate against then-Republican nominee Donald Trump, in which he spoke in a weak, wispy voice, bumbled his way through sentences and formed incoherent sentences. At one point, Biden exclaimed “We finally beat Medicare!”

Then Vice President Kamala Harris took Biden’s spot as the Democratic party’s presidential nominee less than four months before the general election.
Throughout Biden’s presidency, conservative political pundits and Republican lawmakers have been skeptical of Biden’s cognitive capabilities, with Trump coining Biden the nickname “Sleepy Joe Biden,” and saying Biden “doesn’t know where he is or what he is doing.”

Assertions of Biden’s declining cognitive abilities have since been embraced by main stream media outlets with the publication of CNN’s Jake Tapper and Axios’s Alex Thompsons’ book “Original Sin: President Biden’s Decline, Its Cover-Up, and His Disastrous Choice to Run Again.” Thompson and Tapper said they interviewed over 200 Democrats who provided proof that Biden’s closest advisers were hiding Biden’s ailing health to the public and members of administration. However Hunter said the claims in Tapper and Thompson’s book weren’t based in reality.

“What sells, Jaime? What sells is the idea of a conspiracy,” Hunter said.

Tapper recently said in an interview with Katie Couric that Hunter was the one running the White House — a claim Hunter pushes back against.

“You think Jake Tapper’s telling the truth when he says that I was the acting chief of staff of the president’s? I was in that White House 12 days over the course of the last two years of the administration,” Hunter said. “Clearly, because I had other things going on, OK?”

In 2024, Hunter Biden was convicted in two federal cases. He was pardoned by his father in November .

“You ask one person to go on the record that would ever tell you that I was in any way making a single decision about anything, anything in that White House,” Hunter Biden added. “I stayed as far away as I possibly could. Which, by the way, broke my heart.”

Harrison’s podcast is set to air on Thursday.
