Oklahoma Gov. Kevin Stitt declared a disaster emergency for several counties after severe weather caused damage across parts of the state.

According to the executive order, storms beginning March 5 brought tornadoes, straight-line winds and flooding that damaged homes and other property.

The disaster declaration includes Alfalfa, Creek, Grant, Major, Okmulgee, Rogers, Tulsa and Wagoner Counties.

The order activates the State Emergency Operations Plan and allows state agencies to provide resources and assistance to communities dealing with damage. The Oklahoma Department of Emergency Management will coordinate response efforts with local and federal partners.

The declaration remains in effect for 30 days.
