Casting call seeks prison guard extras for ‘The Lowdown’ season 2

TULSA, Okla. –A television series shooting in Tulsa is looking for local residents to appear on screen.

Casting directors for the FX drama “The Lowdown” are seeking men in the Tulsa area to work as prison guard extras for an upcoming scene in Season 2 of the show. Filming for the project is scheduled to continue in the region through the summer.

The production is offering paid extra roles for those selected.

Prison guard extras needed

The casting call is specifically looking for men age 18 and older of all ethnicities to portray prison guards.

Producers say applicants should have an athletic or muscular build and must be comfortable appearing shirtless for the role. Those selected must also be available for filming on March 31 and for a promotional photo shoot scheduled for next week. The exact date for the photo shoot has not yet been announced.

Applicants are asked to fill out this casting form and then email casting at [email protected] with ROLE listed as the subject line. The email should include a shirtless photo showing what you would look like portraying the character.

Pay and filming details

Extras chosen for the role will be paid $88 for up to eight hours of filming for the day.

Anything beyond eight hours will qualify for overtime pay, though production officials say filming days may be shorter depending on scheduling.

Filming for the series is scheduled from March through July 2026 in Tulsa and surrounding areas.

About ‘The Lowdown’

“The Lowdown” is created by Oklahoma filmmaker Sterlin Harjo, who also created the FX series “Reservation Dogs.”

The drama stars Ethan Hawke as Lee Raybon, a citizen journalist who investigates corruption in his hometown while running a small bookstore that serves as a community hub.

Season 1 of the series premiered Sept. 23 on Hulu and follows Raybon’s investigation into a powerful Tulsa family, uncovering a network of influence and hidden power.

FX renewed “The Lowdown” for a second season in January 2026 following a strong response to the first season.
