3 dead in Rogers County crash involving rideshare driver

ROGERS COUNTY, Okla. –

The Oklahoma Highway Patrol has released the names of three people killed in a crash involving a rideshare vehicle on Highway 412. Investigators say the driver had just picked up two passengers before the crash.

What troopers say happened

The crash occurred around 8:48 p.m. April 9 at U.S. Highway 412 and County Road 4160.

According to OHP, the driver of an SUV had picked up two passengers and was traveling north on County Road 4160. Troopers say the driver stopped at a stop sign but failed to yield before entering the highway.

The SUV pulled into the path of an eastbound semi traveling in the outside lane, and the semi struck the vehicle.

Both vehicles went off the roadway into the center median.

Victims identified

Troopers identified the driver as Marissa K. Smith, 32, of Bartlesville.

Two passengers in the rideshare vehicle were also killed:

  • Randy K. Meeks, 66, of Jenks
  • Griffin W. Parker, 47, of Jenks

All three occupants were pronounced dead at the scene.

Crash details

Investigators say the SUV rolled three to four times after the impact.

The driver and passenger of the semi were not injured.

Investigation status

OHP says witness statements matched the account given by the semi driver.

Next of kin have been notified, and the investigation remains ongoing.
