2 Okmulgee County deputies shot, suspect in custody

OKMULGEE, Okla. –

OKMULGEE, OK – On February 5, 2026, the Okmulgee Police Department requested the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation to investigate an officer-involved shooting.
Just before 3:30 p.m., the Okmulgee Police Department responded to a disturbance call at a residence near South Morton Avenue and West 12th Street in Okmulgee. When officers arrived on scene, they made contact with 57-year-old Ron-El Miles.

As officers attempted to approach Miles, he barricaded himself inside the residence and fired a weapon towards officers. Okmulgee Police officers then quickly cleared the area and the Okmulgee County Sheriff’s Office Tactical Team arrived on scene to assist.
As deputies approached the home, Miles again fired a weapon towards them, resulting in an officer-involved shooting. Two deputies were injured and treated on scene. They were transported to a local hospital in stable condition. There were no other injuries during the altercation.
Miles was arrested and booked into the Okmulgee County Jail on multiple complaints of Shooting with Intent to Kill.
This is still an ongoing investigation. Once the OSBI completes their comprehensive investigation, they will provide their report to the District 25 District Attorney’s Office for review.
