Ponca City, OK — Ponca City High School’s Wildcat Internship Program is thrilled to announce a groundbreaking new opportunity for students in partnership with the Northern Oklahoma Flight Academy (NOFA). Thanks to the creativity and dedication of NOFA directors, the program has launched a robust and engaging aviation internship that models the very best of what local collaboration can accomplish.
This new internship combines technical learning with the soft skills employers value most—communication, reflection, adaptability, and initiative. Interns will contribute directly to curriculum development, participate in interviews with aviation leaders, and build a professional portfolio for future opportunities. Their experience culminates in a student-led presentation to the Ponca City Aviation Foundation, reinforcing both accountability and real-world application.
“This is more than just a look behind the scenes of aviation—it’s a full immersion in professionalism,” said Cristyn Casey, Program Coordinator. “We’re deeply grateful to NOFA for designing such a thoughtful and forward-looking internship.”
The Wildcat Internship Program—coordinated by Ponca City Public Schools in partnership with the Ponca City Development Authority (PCDA)—connects over 150 high school juniors and seniors with local businesses and organizations each year. The aviation internship sets an inspiring example of how even specialized fields can create meaningful roles for student interns with a little creativity and mentorship.
As the 2025–2026 school year approaches, the Wildcat Internship Program invites local businesses and organizations to become part of this growing movement. Whether you can host a high school student for a few hours each day or support them in gaining hands-on experience over the course of a semester through mentorship, there’s a place for you to make a difference.
