On July 26th, the two men in the attached photos entered the Valero Short Stop located at 320 W. Grand Ave. They purchased over $4,000.00 in lottery tickets using a fraudulent tap-to-pay scam. The men appeared to pay using tap-to-pay on their cell phones but no money was actually transferred. By the time the fraudulent transaction was identified, both men were gone. There have been similar scams to this recently throughout the state. Elaborate scams and thefts such as this hurt local businesses and can potentially lead to higher costs to consumers to offset losses sustained by those businesses.
