Investigators say they received a tip that led to a targeted cell search inside the facility on Thursday.
During the search, narcotics that tested positive for fentanyl were found among property belonging to Kassandra Escobar, 32, according to investigators. The fentanyl weighed 39 grams and was immediately confiscated.

“This discovery underscores the dangers fentanyl poses inside the jail and the importance of proactive intelligence gathering,” said Paul Timmons, interim CEO of the Oklahoma County Detention Center. “Our team acted swiftly to remove a deadly substance from circulation and to protect the safety of staff and detainees. I am proud of the professionalism and dedication our staff demonstrate every day.”
Escobar had been booked into jail on Monday by Oklahoma City Police on one count of aggravated trafficking of illegal drugs and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. She is facing another charge of aggravated trafficking after this latest incident.
