Newkrik woman injured in Kay County collision

The Oklahoma Highway Patrol reported that a personal injury collision occurred at 12:41 p.m. on Saturday May 23rd at the intersection of River Road and Union Street in Kay County.

The first vehicle was driven by Clayton Hinton, 36, of Ponca City. The report notes that he was uninjured.

The second vehicle was driven by Jerry Johnston, 25, of Newkirk. He was also reportedly uninjured, but his passenger, Isabella Rogers, 18, of Newkirk was injured.

According to the Highway Patrol’s report, Johnston’s vehicle was parked in the roadway retrieving items from a field just off the road. Rogers was outside the car at the trunk. Hinton’s vehicle then rear-ended Johnston’s vehicle, pinning Rogers between the two cars. Rogers sustained a serious leg injury and was flown to St. Francis Tulsa.

The accident was investigated by Trooper Colton McBridge #675 of Troop K.

The Highway Patrol notes that information was reported during the preliminary stages of the investigation and that all information could be subject to change.
