With bags in hand and hearts full of purpose, Ponca City’s letter carriers are gearing up for one of their most meaningful days of the year: the 32nd annual Stamp Out Hunger Food Drive, happening Saturday, May 10.
The Stamp Out Hunger drive, organized nationally by the National Association of Letter Carriers (NALC), is the largest one-day food collection event in the country. Each year, thousands of pounds of food are gathered and distributed to local pantries, helping to combat food insecurity in our neighborhoods.
Locally, United Way of North Central Oklahoma is proud to support this effort, partnering with letter carriers and local agencies to ensure donations are quickly delivered to the shelves of food pantries across Kay County.
To participate, residents are asked to place non-perishable food items in a bag by their mailbox before mail delivery on Saturday, May 10. Carriers will collect the donations during their regular routes. Suggested items include canned vegetables, soups, pasta, peanut butter, cereal, and other shelf-stable goods.
“Every can, every box, every bag makes a difference,” said Tara Goldman. “This drive is an incredible example of what’s possible when we work together—and it all starts with our amazing local letter carriers.”
In 2024, the drive helped stock multiple local food pantries, and this year, organizers hope to collect even more.
United is the Way—and this May 10, Ponca City’s letter carriers are once again showing us what unity and compassion in action really looks like.
