Information now released of a significant drug bust in the early morning hours of June 11 during a routine traffic stop on Interstate 40 in eastern Oklahoma.

An Oklahoma Highway Patrol trooper pulled over a vehicle for speeding, but the situation escalated when the trooper noticed signs of criminal activity.

A subsequent probable cause search of the vehicle revealed a substantial cache of illegal substances.

The search uncovered 150 pounds of marijuana, 400 pre-rolled marijuana products, 200 THC vape cartridges, and approximately 3 grams of methamphetamine.

The driver was arrested and now faces multiple charges, including drug trafficking and possession of a controlled dangerous substance with intent to distribute.

While medical marijuana is legal in Oklahoma, the amount discovered far exceeded the legal possession limit for licensed medical marijuana patients, which is up to 3 ounces.

The 150 pounds of marijuana alone surpassed this limit by nearly 80,000%, not accounting for the additional pre-rolls, THC vapes, or methamphetamine found.

Authorities emphasized that methamphetamine is illegal under all circumstances in Oklahoma.

This incident underscores the critical role of routine traffic enforcement in uncovering criminal activities.

The Oklahoma Highway Patrol reiterated its commitment to combating drug trafficking and ensuring the safety of the state’s residents.
