Local Weather Update from Paula Cain

Mike Seals - May 14, 2020 12:08 pm

Paula Cain, Ponca City Director of Emergency Management, issued the following:

Well today (Thursday) is another possible severe weather day. I believe our chances are better today, as we have many severe weather elements already in place. We have high humidity, dew point is rising, temperature will soar into the 80s & south wind is bringing in more moisture. Plus we will have not one but two opportunities!

Around the 5-6 pm time period isolated severe thunderstorms could develop in the area along a cold front & dry line. These storms will be capable of producing up to baseball size hail & wind gusts up to 80 mph. Much later tonight a complex of storms will move in bringing more strong, damaging wind gusts & heavy rain. Sadly, various forms of severe weather is forecast through Saturday. Stay informed & hang in there!
