Kildare Fish Fry Saturday

Ponca City Now - October 1, 2015 8:57 am

The Kildare Volunteer Fire Department will have its third annual fish fry Saturday, Oct. 3, at 6 p.m. at the fire station in Kildare. The station is located at Church Street and 11th Street.

The department will be serving fish, chicken, beans, coleslaw, hush puppies and a drink. The dinner is offered for a donation to the Kildare Fire Department.

The money raised will go to help the department to finish converting an ex-military truck into a heavy brush truck and purchase office equipment. Heavy brush trucks are used to carry more water to battle large wildland fires. This will be Kildare Fire Department’s second heavy brush truck and will give better capability to get a quick knock-down on fires in the fire district. It will also allow the department to give mutual aid to other fire departments without compromising fire protection in the district.

The office equipment will replace equipment that is no longer technically supported.

The department’s apparatus and equipment will be on display for the public to look at and ask questions about.

The Northern Oklahoma Chapter of Pink Heals will bring "Hope," its pink fire truck, for people who are fighting or have fought cancer and won, or for family members to sign to be a rolling tribute or memorial.

The department and the firefighters are selling tickets for a chance to win a Taurus Judge, a .45/.410 handgun. The handgun is capable of firing a .45 caliber bullet or a .410 shotgun shell. It has gained notoriety for home defense. Tickets are $5 each or $20 for five tickets. They can be purchased at the fish fry, the annual meeting in November, or from any of the Kildare firefighters.

Contact Fire Chief Travis Harris for more information at (580) 763-7203.
