House Dems Support Call for Increased Ed Funding

OKLAHOMA CITY — House Minority Leader Emily Virgin, D-Norman, released the following statement in response to House Republicans indicating they are pushing for increased education funding in the state budget.

“We certainly support additional funding for our state agencies, especially education,” Virgin said. “You can’t fund core services through tax cuts, and you can’t run a state by cutting agency budgets every year. House Democrats have called for a $200 million increase in education funding for the past two sessions. Hopefully, with House Republicans on board, we can get this accomplished in a bipartisan manner and invest in our students.”
