Griffith reaches plea agreement; pleads no contest to manslaughter

A plea agreement was reached Thursday morning in the trial of Mitchell Griffith in Kay County District Court.

Griffith, 60, originally was charged with murder in the first degree, deliberate intent, in the Sept. 18, 2014, shooting death of Vinson Kendrick, 35. Kendrick was found shot in an apartment at 802 South Second Street.

In the plea agreement, Griffith entered a plea of no contest to first degree manslaughter, a felony. The court accepted the plea and set the date for sentencing on Jan. 22, 2018.
