Garber man sentenced in girlfriend’s death

ENID, Okla. (AP) – A Garber man has been sentenced to life in prison with the possibility of parole after pleading guilty to first-degree murder in the strangulation death his girlfriend.

In a plea deal dated Monday, 25-year-old Christopher Ryan Sparks wrote that he agrees with the probable cause affidavit, which alleges he killed 26-year-old Chasity Michelle Hancock in July 2014. Sparks will be eligible for parole after serving 38 years.

The affidavit says Sparks told family members he thought he killed Hancock, whose first name has also been spelled Chassidy, and that he sent a text message to a co-worker saying he strangled the woman.

Hancock’s body was found by a neighbor who discovered a child in the street – who then led the neighbor to the apartment where Hancock’s body was discovered.
