City of Ponca City - August 25, 2022 5:42 pm

Captain William Hargraves

The funeral services for Captain William Hargraves of the Osage County Sheriff’s Office, will be held Friday, August 26th, at 1:00 pm in the Ponca City Schools Concert Hall. The attendance at this funeral is expected to very high.
On Friday at approximately 9:00am, all access to parking in War Memorial Park will be closed off. Overbrook from 5th Street to 7th Street will be closed off at the same time. The outside (curbside) lane of NB 5th Street will be closed between Highland and Overbrook during this time also. There will be one NB lane left open.
As attendees arrive, it will likely become necessary to park some vehicles in the grass, which will interfere with the disc golf course use. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause. War Memorial Park, Overbrook, and 5th Street will be reopened as soon as the funeral is over and the procession has left.
The Ponca City Police Department is asking anyone attending the funeral, who is not in an emergency vehicle, and is not with the family, please go to the furthest south entrance to the park, on 7th street, near the splash pad. There will be officers and volunteers directing parking at that location. There will be a specific area set aside for those who are handicapped, so please let the officers know if you have a handicapped parking need.
Anyone attending in an emergency vehicle, who has not been given a specific place to park, needs to go to the furthest north entrance to the park, on 5th Street, and they will be given guidance on where to park.
Anyone who wishes to be in the procession to Kaw City for the graveside service, will need to plan on exiting out the west side of War Memorial Park onto 5th Street. Anyone who will not be going to the graveside service needs to remain parked until the procession has left and cleared the park.
