Former Oklahoma City officer sent to jail

OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) – A former Oklahoma City police officer charged with sexually assaulting women while on duty has been ordered to serve 15 days in jail for violating terms of his bond.

Daniel Holtzclaw was taken into custody following a hearing Monday in Oklahoma County District Court.

Defense attorney Scott Adams says Holtzclaw failed to keep the battery charged on an ankle monitor he’s required to wear, allowing the monitor to go dead for several hours. Adams says Holtzclaw reported the incident and called it "a lapse of judgment," but noted that Holtzclaw is on zero tolerance for violations.

Holtzclaw has pleaded not guilty to 36 charges that include rape, forcible sodomy, stalking and indecent exposure for alleged sexual assaults that occurred while he was on duty.

He was fired in January.
