First Council Casino partners with UnWINEd to host benefit event

Ponca City Now - March 19, 2014 12:22 pm

First Council Casino in Newkirk is hosting Tapas and Wine with Ponca City’s, UnWINEd bar.

This is a benefit for the Otoe-Missouria encampment, and also to introduce new wines at the casino.

Barrett DeFay, the casino’s marketing director said the new food and beverage director has redone the menu.

"One of the things that has been lacking over time is our wine selection," DeFay said. " We are trying to introduce quality wines, better wines and wines people frankly want to drink, instead of the ‘can I have a glass of the house chardonnay.’ That’s what this event is partially going to introduce, the fact that yes we’re carrying good wines, we’re carrying wines that people want to drink, it’s also that we have excellent food.

Saul Ramirez is one of only six certified executive chefs in Oklahoma.

There will be five courses of tapas, which are a wide variety of appetizers and they will be paired with complimenting wines.

DeFay said tickets can be bought at UnWINEd or the Casino Player’s club.

“The doors open at 5:30, there is open bar from 6 to 7 on Monday night, and Tapas and UnWINEd function begins at 7 and last until after 8," DeFay said. "We’re just excited to host this and we hope everyone comes out and enjoys themselves.”

The tickets also include $10 free casino play and a discount on hotel rooms.

The event will be held in the Council Bluff Event Center.
