Financial Workshop for Artists in Ponca City

Ponca City Now - March 20, 2015 7:36 am

PONCA CITY — Most artists would rather be working in their studio than dealing with money matters. However, as with any business, finances are a key part of an artist’s career.

A workshop from the Oklahoma Visual Arts Coalition (OVAC) will offer tips for artists about putting a value to their work, managing money, and building a solid financial future. A part of OVAC’s Artist Survival Kit (A.S.K.) workshop series, Money, Money, Money will be held from 1 to 4 p.m. Saturday at the Ponca City Art Center, 819 East Central Ave. in Ponca City.

Fred Imel, CPA, will share tips for artists about financial planning and taxes. Additionally, Oklahoma City artist Romy Owens will discuss how to set a reasonable price for artistic work, along with how to prepare budgets for projects or funding requests.

This is the fourth in a series of six Artist Survival Kit (A.S.K.) workshops organized by OVAC and it is sponsored in part by the Oklahoma Arts Council. OVAC is dedicated to the professionalism and advancement of artists. For more information, visit www.ArtistSurvivalKit.org.

The workshop is $20 for the general public or $15 for OVAC members. Some scholarships are available. Registration is available by phone at (405) 879-2400, or online at www.ArtistSurvivalKit.org.
