Fatality Collision in Pawnee County

The Oklahoma Highway Patrol reported a fatality collision occurred about 8:12 p.m. Friday on US64, about 1/4 of a mile east ofthe intersection fo State Highway 108, which is about 1 mile east of Lela, OK in Pawnee County.

The patrol said the accident involved a 2004 Chevrolet Malibu driven by Jamie M. Russell (sic), 27, of Tryon, OK. Russell was transported by Pawnee EMS to Stillwater Medical Center where she was treated and released for head injuries.

A passenger in Russell’s vehicle, Jesse C. Donovan (sic), 33, of Tryon, OK was pronounced dead at the scene from head injuries, by M.E. Mark Kirschner.

The Highway Patrol’s report stated Russell’s vehicle was eastbound on US64 when, for an unknown reason the driver lost control, crossing the centerline. Russel overcorrected causing the vehicle to enter into a broad slide and to exit the roadway to the left. Russell’s vehicle impacted a large tree on the passenger side, rotated clockwise, coming to rest on a fence. The report indicates that seatbelts were in use by both driver and passenger. The condition of the driver at the time of the accident and the cause of the collision are still under investigation.
