Fatality Collision in Osage County

The Oklahoma Highway Patrol reported a fatality collision occurred about 6:32 p.m. Friday at the entrance to the Skiatook Osage Casino about 65 feet west of Skiatook, OK in Osage County.

The patrol said the accident involved a 2006 Chevrolet trailblazer driven by Johnny Taylor Brown, 28, of Claremore, OK. Brown was transported by Skiatook EMS to Saint John’s hospital in Tulsa, OK in critical condition where he passed away due to injuries sustained from the collision.

The second vehicle involved was a 2015 Dodge Journey driven by Tiffany Nicole Schmidt, 28, of Skiatook, OK. Schmidt was pronounced dead at the scene from internal injuries, by Skiatook EMS.

The Highway Patrol’s report stated Brown’s vehicle was eastbound on SH20. Schmidt’s vehicle was westbound on SH20. For an unknown reason Brown’s vehicle crossed the center line striking Schmidt’s vehicle head on. Schmidt was pinned for approximately ten minutes. The condition of both drivers is still under investigation, as is the cause of the collision. Seatbelts were equipped, but not in use in Brown’s vehicle, in use in Schmidt’s vehicle. The report states that the roadway is two lanes, undivided asphalt.
