During a party on June 16, 2021, Toyin Amuda fell into the swimming pool at the defendants’ home and drowned.

Court documents alleged that the majority of the party involved Deer Creek High School students, and the defendants failed to supervise the party and make timely attempts to save Amuda’s life.

Investigators with the Oklahoma County Sheriff’s Office found empty beer cans on the hot tub, an empty vodka bottle was found next to the patio kitchen, and two garbage cans on the property were full of empty beer cans and liquor bottles.

The defendants claimed that they did not have working video surveillance at the time of the party.

Amuda’s family filed the lawsuit on the basis of wrongful death, negligence, premises liability, negligence per se and punitive damages.
