Expert On Bullying Prevention Plans SWOSU Workshop

WEATHERFORD, Okla. (AP) – A national expert on the prevention of bullying plans a workshop next week at Southwestern Oklahoma State University.

The workshop entitled "Bullying Prevention and Intervention: Realistic Strategies for Adults Working with Youth" is scheduled on Oct. 11 at the campus in Weatherford.

Dr. Susan Swearer, co-director of the Bullying Research Network and director of the Empowerment Initiative, will lead the workshop. Swearer is professor of school psychology at the University of Nebraska and has extensive experience working with schools nationwide to reduce bullying behaviors.

The workshop is sponsored by SWOSU’s Psychology Department. It will address the complexity of bullying and victimization among school-aged youth and provide ideas for creating healthy, caring relationships among adults and students.

Continuing education credits are available for professionals who participate in the workshop.
