Drowning victim’s body recovered

DURANT, Okla. (AP) – Authorities have recovered the body of a 26-year-old Durant man who is believed to have drowned this weekend while swimming under a bridge on Lake Texoma.

The Oklahoma Highway Patrol says in a statement that Peter D. Buckner’s body was recovered Sunday at about 7:15 a.m. Buckner disappeared underwater Saturday evening after he began swimming under the Railroad Bridge at Rock Creek.

The patrol says witnesses heard Buckner yelling for help, then saw him go underwater without resurfacing.
