Dinosaur statue found in pieces

BARTLESVILLE, Okla. (AP) – A large dinosaur statue that authorities say was stolen from a Bartlesville storefront over the weekend has been found in a Tulsa trash bin in pieces.

The Tulsa World reports that authorities notified the store owner Wednesday that the dinosaur -or what was left of it- had been recovered. The statue had stood at Classic Pets in Bartlesville for a decade.

Officials found the dinosaur without a head in the trash bin. Its legs and tail were also cut off.

Store owner Kathy Kiem says she doesn’t think the fiberglass will be easy to mend, if at all.

She says the dinosaur was a hit with kids and adults. Locals often would pose for pictures with the statue, too, she says.
