The Sooners and Cowboys both overcame slow starts on Saturday to defeat Kent State and Arizona State and move up in the AP Top 25 as ranked teams like Notre Dame, Texas A&M and Wisconsin suffered major upsets.

Oklahoma moved up one spot to No. 6 after defeating Kent State 33-3 in Norman, thanks to Texas A&M’s loss at home to Appalachian State.

The five teams ahead of the Sooners includes newly-crowned No. 1 Georgia, then Alabama, Ohio State, Michigan and Clemson.

Oklahoma State comes in at No. 8, right after the University of Southern California. The Cowboys moved up three spots in the poll after defeating Arizona State 34-17 in Stillwater.

The Baylor Bears loss to BYU late Saturday night, along with Marshall’s massive upset over Notre Dame opened the door for the Cowboys to move into the top 10.

Defending Big 12 Champion Baylor dropped eight spots to No. 17, BYU is now at No. 12 and Texas is ranked for the first time at No. 21 after battling with Alabama.
