Contract approved for reconstruction of Meadow Lane

A contract for the third phase of road construction on Meadow Lane was approved Monday night by the Ponca City Board of Commissioners.

The $198,731.70 contract is with River Ridge Construction, LLC, of Newkirk for a street improvement project which will reconstruct Meadow Lane from Fairway Place to Queens Avenue.

City Engineer Jim Fairbanks said Phase 1 was completed in 2010 and Phase 2 in 2013.

He said the bid from River Ridge was the low bid. It and a second bid from Hembree and Hodgson were both lower than the engineer’s estimate of $263,293.

"We had extremely good bids on this project," Fairbanks said .

The concrete construction will be six inches thick with a two-inch sublayer of asphalt over flyash, Fairbanks said.

The Ponca City Water Department has lowered the water line along the street in preparation for the project. Other utilities from ONG and AT&T will need to be moved before work can begin, Fairbanks said.
