City of Moore will not enforce medical marijuana ordinances

The Associated Press - November 4, 2018 8:55 am

MOORE, Okla. (AP) – The city of Moore will not enforce recently passed ordinances intended to regulate medical marijuana in the Oklahoma City suburb.
City Attorney Randy Brink told The Oklahoman that the rules never took effect because of a recent court ruling against similar ordinances in Broken Arrow.
The regulations include restrictions on where marijuana businesses could operate, limiting operating hours for dispensaries, and requiring businesses owners to purchase a permit.
A judge ruled in September that similar regulations in Broken Arrow could not be enforced because the city doesn’t have authority to impose them.
Brink said he thinks cities should have some control over the marijuana industry, but it may need legislative action to do so.
Oklahoma voters in June approved use of marijuana for some medicinal purposes.
