Caution! School’s about to begin — watch your speed!

Ponca City Now - August 11, 2016 2:21 pm

The new school year is set to begin. Children are excited and drivers need to be very cautious, especially while driving in school zones.

“The speed limit in school zones is strictly enforced by our officers” Ponca City Police Department Patrol Division Captain Earl Watkins said. “Some of the school zones are marked with signs indicating the times speed is enforced. Some of the school zones are marked with flashing yellow lights. The speed limit for both is 20 miles per hour.”

“School zone fines are very expensive” Municipal Judge William Kirkpatrick said. “The court does not tolerate drivers speeding in school zones.”
