Candidates for School Board Positions in Kay County

Kay County Election Board, Newkirk –

Kay County Election Board Secretary Carol Leaming released the list of  Candidates who filed a Declaration of Candidacy with the Kay County Election Board on December 6th ,7th, and 8th for School Districts in Kay County including Blackwell Schools, Kildare Schools, Newkirk Schools, Peckham Schools, Ponca City Schools, Tonkawa Schools, and Pioneer Technology Center.

Candidates include:

Blackwell Schools: Board Position # 5 Incumbent Tami Bickford 

Blackwell Schools: Board Position # 2 Barbara Ihrig 

Kildare Schools:   Board Position #3 Incumbent Carol S. Harden 

Newkirk Schools: Board Position # 2 Incumbent Phillip Knight and P.J. Butler 

Peckham Schools: Board Position # 1 Incumbent Maribeth Ratliff 

Pioneer Technology Center:  Board Zone #5 Incumbent Laurence Beliel 

Ponca City Schools: Board Position #2 Incumbent Nancy Zimmerschied and Tracy Davis McCloud 

Ponca City Schools: Board Position #4 Incumbent Anna Roland and Amanda Porter-Cain 

Tonkawa Schools: Board Position #2 Incumbent Cara Beth Johnson, Casey Boland, and Tyler Langston 

Tonkawa Public Schools had three or more file for School Board Position #2 and will have a Primary election held on February 8th, 2022.

School Districts who had two file for Board Positions are Newkirk Schools for School Board Position #2 and Ponca City Schools for School Board Positions #2 and #4. Newkirk and Ponca City Schools will have a General Election  held on April 5th, 2022.

If one candidate receives more than 50% of the votes in the February election, that candidate will be named the elected official. If no one receives more than 50% of the votes, the top two candidates will vie for the position in the April 5th, 2022 Board of Education General Election.
