Blue Bell reopens Broken Arrow plant

BROKEN ARROW, Okla. (AP) – Blue Bell Creameries has resumed production at its Broken Arrow facility a day after the company’s products returned to select locations in Texas and Alabama.

The Texas-based company says the facility began production again Tuesday. According to a Tuesday news release, the production will be on a limited basis to confirm whether new procedures, facility enhancements and employee training have been effective. Products will only be released for sale after tests show they are safe.

The company voluntarily recalled its products in April after they were linked to 10 listeria cases in four states, including three deaths in Kansas.

The facility in Sylacauga, Alabama started production again in late July.
