Bixby man spreads cheer with Christmas lights on neighbors houses.

A Bixby man decked the halls, or at least his street, with Christmas cheer by hanging custom lights on each of his neighbors’ houses.

He started doing this after he saw his house was the only one with Christmas lights.

Brightly colored Christmas lights lined each house on one street in Bixby.

“It’s really pretty and makes the neighborhood look a little more unique, and bright and fun,” said Hannah Horath.

Hannah Horath has lived on the street her whole life, but she said it hasn’t always been like this.

“It was only a select few houses that had lights on them,” she said. “It was very dim.”

But one man on the street wanted to make a difference.

“Whenever I pulled down my street, I noticed that my house was all lit up, and nobody else had Christmas lights on my street,” said Stephen Dunkelberg.

For the past two years, Dunkelberg has hung Christmas lights on each of his neighbors’ houses.

“I had a bunch of extra lights, and I thought it would be a cool idea just to light up every single one of the houses, so I did it,” he said.

He said he did it to spread holiday cheer, especially for those who couldn’t put up lights themselves. One neighbor, “Bing” Nearing, hasn’t had Christmas lights on his home for five years, but thanks to Stephen’s kindness, he saw his house lit up in holiday magic.

“I’m sure the whole neighborhood appreciates it. I, for one, do because I’m a little bit senior, and it’s hard to get up on the roof now,” Nearing said.

Dunkelberg owns each strand of lights and hangs every bulb up for free. He said he’s just happy to bring his street a little bit more happiness during the Christmas season.

“Little kids will come out and get excited, or grandparents will come out and get excited. Little things like that will kind of keep you going,” he said.

Dunkelberg said he plans to leave t

he lights up until the new year and looks forward to doing them again each year.
