Bartlesville Man Killed, Ponca City Man Injured in Vehicle Accident Friday Morning

A 55 year-old man from of Bartlesville was killed this morning when he was traveling East in a Toyota Camry on OK Highway 11 and crashed into another vehicle just West of the intersection of Waverly and Hwy.11, 4 miles South and 2 miles West of Newkirk.

The driver crossed the center line and collided head-on with a Westbound Toyota Sienna Van driven by 83 year old Denver Gearhart of Ponca City.

The man from Bartlesville whose identity has not been released pending relative notification, was pronounced dead at the scene by the Newkirk Fire Department and Newkirk EMS due to head trauma and was transported by Grace Memorial Chapel Funeral Home to their facility in Ponca City.

Gearhart, whose vehicle rolled 1/2 times, was transported by Med Flight 5 to St. Francis Hospital in Tulsa and admitted in fair condition with arm and head injuries.

The accident was investigated by Trooper Crompton of the Kay county detachment of Troop K and assisted by the Kay Co Sheriff’s Office, Newkirk EMS, The Newkirk Fire Department, Stillwater Med Flight 5, Oklahoma Department of Transportation and District 8 Drug Task force.

The cause of the collision is under investigation.
