Art Center offers landscape master class in March

Ponca City Now - January 28, 2015 10:37 am

Artists have long touted plein-air painting as important to learning to see colors in nature.

For Chuck Rawle there is no substitute. The pursuit of his interest in painting, especially plein-air painting, led Rawle to devote full time to a career in painting.

During the more than 30 years that Rawle has been painting, he has sought out and studied with several of the top artists in the United States. His travels across the United States, Canada and Mexico have allowed him to study the landscapes first hand and put that knowledge into his paintings.

Rawle has been highlighted in many publications including Western Art Collector in October 2009 and Southwest Art in July 2010.

In addition to galleries, Chuck’s award-winning works can be found in several prestigious juried shows. His work is on display at the collector’s Covey in Dallas; Insight Gallery in Fredricksburg, Texas; Germantown Gallery in Germantown, N.C., and Brookwood Gallery in Brookshire, Texas.

The workshop will be over three days, March 26-28, from 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. There is a limit of 12 students and cost is $300. A non-refundable $150 deposit is due at the time of sign-up.

The deadline to sign up is March 18. Students can sign up at the Ponca City Art Center from 1 to 5 p.m. Tuesdays through Saturdays. A supply list will be available at sign-up.
