Ponca City Now - January 20, 2014 9:17 am

According to a press release from AAA five Oklahoma hotels and two restaurants have received the Four Diamond Award for 2014.

The hotels are Waterford Marriott in Oklahoma City, Renaissance Oklahoma City Convention Center, Renaissance Tulsa Hotel and Convention Center, Skirvin Hilton in Oklahoma City and Choctaw Casino Resort Grand Tower in Durant.

"Hotels rated Four Diamond are stylish with an upscale physical environment," according to AAA. "Guests receive personalized attention from experienced staff and a wide range of amenities in a luxurious setting.

None of these hotels are new to this award.

The Waterford has received the award for 19 consecutive years, 13 years for Renaissance Oklahoma City, 12 years for Renaissance Tulsa, eight years for the Skirvin and four years for the Choctaw Casino.

Only 3.9 percent of all evaluated properties qualify for this award.

Only two restaurants received the Four Diamond Award.

Polo Grill in Tulsa and The Coach House in Oklahoma City have both received this award for 15 years.

"Restaurants at the Four Diamond level offer an unusually distinctive dining experience, with creative chefs, imaginative menus, fresh top-quality ingredients and a knowledgeable staff " according to AAA.

AAA inspectors visited nearly 1,200 hotels and restaurants every week.

Inspectors have observed properties and travelers using personalized approaches, such as TripleSpot and other social media.

AAA rates more properties than any other rating entity, covering the U.S., Canada, Mexico and the Caribbean.

They’re ratings are based on professional, on-site evaluations using published guidelines.

Approved and Diamond Rated hotel and restaurant listings can be found in the eTourBook guides, AAA mobile application, TripTik travel planner and Travel Guides on AAA.com and AA TourBook available at AAA offices.
