Lankford criticizes Iran deal, EPA during Edmond luncheon

OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) – U.S. Senator James Lankford is criticizing the Obama administration for the Iran nuclear deal and the Environmental Protection Agency for its interpretation of federal law.

The Republican from Edmond spoke to about 150 members of the Edmond Chamber of Commerce and fielded questions Thursday during a luncheon at the Gaillardia Country Club in Oklahoma City.

Most of the discussion and questions centered on the agreement struck by the U.S., Iran and five world powers that’s aimed at dismantling Iran’s nuclear program in exchange for billions in sanctions relief. Lankford described the agreement as a "bad deal for America" and urged negotiators to return to the bargaining table.

Before the meeting, Lankford said he hasn’t narrowed his choice among the Republicans running for the GOP presidential nomination in 2016.
