Evans to continue as NOC President

The Northern Oklahoma College Board of Regents has voted unanimously to continue the employment of Dr. Cheryl Evans as president of the college.

"I look forward to working on behalf of our students and working with our great employees at NOC. I appreciate the opportunity to continue serving at Northern," Evans said after the May 20 vote.

Personnel changes announced included the employment of Lori Erasmus as IT Staff Assistant, Enid campus, and the retirement of Nancy Silvy, Threlkeld Residence Hall director, Tonkawa.

Resignations were received from Tracy Emmons, math faculty; Lisa Dice, administration assistant for development and community relations; Ashton Neale, assistant softball coach; and Rhianne Parsons, assistant women’s softball coach, all on the Tonkawa campus.

Resigning from the Enid campus were Andrew Bridges, E.B. Residence Hall director; Jason Stockbridge, coordinator of residential life and student activities; and Kayla Jennings, assistant softball coach.

Sharlie Doty-Harris, registration specialist, resigned from the Stillwater campus.

Evans noted that Dr. Shannon Cunningham will succeed Debbie Quirey, who is retiring, as vice president for the Stillwater campus starting July 1.

Fine Arts Division Chair Dineo Heilmann, visual arts faculty Jena Kodesh and Digital Media Director Brad Matson presented the program showcase. Heilmann gave an overview of the division; Kodesh reported on creative ideas implemented with her students, including community involvement; and Matson reported on the progress of the DMI program from its inception in 2000 as the world’s largest Media 100 iFinish laboratory and its current partnership with PL Studios of Oklahoma City.

Vice President for Student Affairs Jason Johnson reported that the new residence halls under construction on Tonkawa and Enid campuses “will start looking like buildings pretty quick. Both projects are at the same point, ready for decking, and are waiting on good weather.”

According to Dr. Rick Edgington, vice president for enrollment, 398 students have enrolled for the Summer 2015 session, a 3 percent increase over last summer, and 2,579 have already enrolled for the Fall 2015 semester.

Regents approved athletic and student handbooks for 2015-16, monthly financial reports and purchases for major repairs presented by Vice President for Financial Affairs Anita Simpson.

Simpson reported total net assets of $24,821,893.98.for the fiscal year 2014-15.

Attending the meeting on the Tonkawa campus were regents Jeff Cowan, Ponca City, chair; Linda Brown, Ponca City, vice chair; Tom Dugger, Stillwater, secretary; Keith James, Pond Creek, member; and Lynn Smith, Enid, member. The Board of Regents will meet Wednesday, June 17 on the Enid campus.
