OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) – An Oklahoma City attorney has been elected the new chairman of the Oklahoma Democratic Party.

Party spokeswoman Sarah Baker says delegates meeting at Oklahoma City Community College on Saturday elected Mark Hammons by a vote of 306-216 over current party co-chair Dana Orwig.

Hammons succeeds Wallace Collins as chairman of the party. Collins did not seek re-election after serving two terms in office.

Baker says the delegates also elected former state Senator Connie Johnson as co-chair by a 322-198 vote over Laurie Phillips.
